Today, August 20, 2o11, marks Lemonade Freedom Day. From the Facebook event: Please join us on August 20, 2011 and set up your own lemonade stand. We need to send a message to everyone who is listening. They can not shut down the kids lemonade stands. If you do not have kids or do not want to set up your own lemonade stand, please support a local kid’s lemonade stand. Selling lemonade is not a crime! Check out the promo video for Lemonade Freedom Day: If you decide to sell lemonade on August 20, 2011, be sure to follow these guidelines : Always be respectful of any officials, follow their instructions even if they are wrong, and do not antagonize them. Ask what is the statute or regulation that gives them the authority to shut down the stand, and what are the grounds for doing so. Ask if the law or regulation specifically empowers them to shut down the stand or merely issue tickets for violations, especially a first violation. Ask the officer if there are any exceptions in the rule for businesses owned and operated by minors, or businesses that earn below a certain amount (which may be referred to in the law or regulations as “de minimus”). Ask to see the law or regulation. Get the officer’s name and badge number, or if not a police officer, the official’s name, agency or department, and job title. If possible, record the entire interaction on video (even if just a cell phone). *Please be aware of your state’s laws in regards to recording public officials. In some states it may be illegal.* Do not offer the officials anything (including free lemonade) to overlook the violation. Again, always be respectful of any officials, follow their instructions even if they are wrong, and do not antagonize them. Dartmouth’s Young Cons’ Dave Rufful and Josh Riddle are keeping the activism alive. Best known for their groundbreaking music videos, these young men are now disseminating the conservative message through commercials and ads. The first one is entitled “Children at Work”. Moveon.org made this add to attack the $1 trillion deficit of George W. Bush. Of course now with the debt crisis approaching and entitlement spending desperately needing reform they are nowhere to be found. The second one goes after Obama’s failure to lead as POTUS: Check them out on Twitter @YoungCons and be sure to visit their site: www.theyoungcons.com. You’ve seen the headlines: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has upheld a lower-court ruling that Obamacare’s individual mandate — which requires all U.S. residents to purchase health insurance — is unconstitutional. The case in question, Florida v. Health and Human Services , is the most important of all the Obamacare constitutional challenges thus far, because the plaintiffs include the governors and attorneys general from 26 states. In January, when lower-court judge Roger Vinson overturned the entirety of Obamacare in the same case, I wrote that Vinson’s ruling “could go down as an important landmark in the history of American liberty.” The new ruling is even more significant. The 207-page majority opinion of the Eleventh Circuit, penned by appointees of Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush, is the most rigorous and complete repudiation of the mandate ever written. It stands in stark contrast to the blitheness of the 26-page lead opinion from the Sixth Circuit decision in June upholding the mandate. The Eleventh Circuit judges persuasively make the case that “the government’s position amounts to an argument that the mere fact of an individual’s existence [means that] Congress may regulate them at every point of their life.” Keep reading this post . . .
Although I do not support Mitt Romney for President, I am marveled by how he handled this when confronted by irate leftists about Social Security at the Iowa state fair. Watch the exchange here:
The Debt Ceiling bill, which is officially known as, “ S365 – Budget Control Act of 2011” was originally known as, “To make a technical amendment to the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002”, and was the vehicle used by the Senate to take control of the legislation, which was susposed to originate in the [...]

The media has completely glossed over the fact that the vote in the house for Cut, Cap & Balance was not unanimous for the Republicans. There were 9 Republicans who voted against H.R.2560, the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act of 2011 and one who didn’t vote. Those Republicans were: Donald Young, Alaska District – 0 [...]
Obama will not sign legislation that will balance the budget, and he certainly will never sign any legislation that would amend the constitution. Furthermore, any such legislation would probably never make it out of the Senate, thanks to Harry Reid (and the ignorant voters of Nevada who reelected him.) That leaves us with no resolution regarding our debt crisis. This is exactly what President Obama wants.
